Most clients feel only brief pulling or pressure; significant pain is uncommon. Our BSN-RN uses gentle technique and sterile supplies. We provide aftercare guidance to manage discomfort and can advise pain control if needed.
The removal itself takes only a few minutes; allow 15–30 minutes total for cleaning, assessment, paperwork, aftercare instruction, and any questions. If multiple drains or complications exist, plan for a slightly longer appointment and possible follow-up.
Yes. Your RN will clean the site, apply a fresh dressing, and give clear written and verbal aftercare instructions including dressing changes, signs of infection to watch for, activity limits, and when to contact your surgeon or our clinic.
Most clients can drive home if they received no sedation and feel steady. If you took prescription pain medication, feel dizzy, or were given anxiolytics, please arrange a responsible ride. Your RN will advise before discharge.
